As many of you know, there have been recent news reports regarding the situation on the Mexican border. You have heard warnings being given to Americans citizens to be careful crossing the border, or to not cross the border at all. Faith Mission has been ministering on the Mexican border across from Acuna Mexico for over 43 years. We want to assure all groups that are coming, as well as those who are making plans to come that the situation here at this border crossing is as safe as it ever has been. We recognize the concerns that any parent or individual would have for their safety. There have been no instances of any kind of trouble in the border town of Acuna.

This is the current posting at the border U.S. Border Crossing:

"Beginning January 31, 2008, U.S. citizens ages 19 and over will need to present a government issued photo ID and proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate, naturalization certificate or passport) to enter the U.S. by land or sea.  U.S. citizens under the age of 19 will only need to provide proof of citizenship."

Obviously, if you have your passport, use that as your ID.   What this news basically means is, if you do not have a passport, you will then need a photo ID along with a birth certificate.  It is important that the birth certificate NOT be a photocopy, but a certified original.
